Richard Guzman's painting style has been described as robust, expressionistic, energetic, with sweeping use of color and skillful harmonies. These attributes are born of close observation of subject matter, countless hours of indoor as well as outdoor painting, and a boundless love of the craft.
Mr. Guzman has instructed for both private and public institutions for the past twenty-five years. He brings a wealth of information that includes the history of painting, as well as the most recent trends in modern times. Being a strong believer in the craft of painting, he is also skilled in the use of materials, bringing assurance that works are as archival as possible.

"I learn something new with each painting in terms of how perception, color theory, and color chemistry work together to provide the viewer with an aesthetic experience." Mr. Guzman grew up in southern New Mexico and now resides in northern New Mexico village of Truchas with his wife Dolores. " There is always, always something to paint in and about this mountain village. My family, friends and subject matter are here. I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity.
