About Richard Guzman

Artist Statement: " In a brief amount of time, painting on site, is what I have to say about the world, in that finite bit of time, hopefully, in a beautiful way".

Richard Guzman grew up in southern New Mexico, Dona Ana County, worked for U. S. West telecommunications company as a lineman, splicer and trouble shooter, much of this in Wyoming before transferring back to Santa Fe, New Mexico. He eventually obtained a degree in art from the College of Santa Fe, a teaching license and a mathematics endorsement from New Mexico Highlands University to pursue a second career in education. Painting outdoors somehow made its way as another life pursuit. Richard Guzman lives and paints in and about Truchas, New Mexico, and he still hasn’t figured out how he came to be so fortunate. His wife Dolores and four children have been an enormous support in all his transformations.
