Just before dawn, a crowd gathers at the water's edge. It is icy cold; the wind cuts through the dark, wiping sand into the air as the first light of the shortest day of the year peeks over the horizon. We gather on this beach to give thanks for all that has been provided and for the moment we are living in.
As the sun matures, the crowd slowly returns back to the warmth of their cars. Lingering, I watch gratefully as the sun floods the blue and purple beach with warm yellow and orange hues. Moments later, a shell catches my eye. Strangely, it becomes translucent and almost disappears when held up to the horizon as the warm morning glow gives way to the bright sun of the day.

My creations often emerge from a blend of photographic references and vivid dreams, leading to textural paintings, sculptures and photographic works that celebrate the beauty and complexity of my experiences.

In all my endeavors, I remain committed to dreaming in color, translating the vibrant hues of my life into a visual language that invites others to engage with the world through the lens of art.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Leif received his Bachelor of Arts Degree with a focus on studio art in Albuquerque, New Mexico. "

Leif's studio and home is currently located on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
